The Art Of Setting Up Speakers
Use the ultimate Instalife CD to fine-tune your audio system
First, divide the room lengthwise into three parts: the listener is positioned on one line (1/3), and the speakers are placed on the second line. The longitudinal axes of the speakers should always be parallel to the walls. Place the speakers close to the walls.
Second, play Track 6. By simultaneously moving the speakers closer to each other (by 2-3 cm), aim to achieve a coherent sound image of the piano. The distance between the speakers should be maximized.
Third, measure and record this position on a piece of paper. Then move the speakers 20 cm closer to the listener and repeat the same process.
When installing speakers using this method (adapting speakers to a specific room), their placement usually does not conform to generally accepted notions. Believe only in your hearing, not in concepts…

Fourth, move the speakers towards the listener up to the middle of the room and away up to a line at a distance equal to 20% of the room length. On your diagram, you’ll get a series of points that need to be connected. The resulting lines may be either straight or curved (for convenience, these can be marked on the floor with chalk or dry soap).
We do not recommend ‘toeing in’ the speakers towards the listener
Fifth, reposition the speakers on the 1/3 line at the obtained points.
Using Track 4 and moving the speakers back and forth along the obtained lines, aim to achieve the circular movement of the tambourine sound. If this does not work well, try moving the listening position back and forth. In case of ambiguous speaker positions (the circular sound movement is heard at several points), use Track 5. When using this track, the speakers are adjusted unambiguously. Additional checks – Tracks 7 and 8.
P.S. At a distance of more than 1 meter from the speakers, the listener hears the room sound
